July, 2006. Professor Alan Yuille, a faculty member from UCLA, visited the Lotus Hill Institute in July last year. Dr. Yuille is a well-known figure in the field of computer vision, particularly for his achievements in object recognition. While here he shared his newest research ideas and contributions to object recognition with us.Dr. Yuille is very invested in the institute's development and construction, especially in our development of image parsing software.

During his visit, he spent time talking with us and learning about our image parsing efforts, and expressed high praise for the LHI team.He was quite impressed that we had completed manual annotations for tens of thousands of high grade images from many different categories and built the beginnings of an annotated image database in only a few months. He also made many valuable suggestions and proposals for the direction of our future work.
